The Urban Nature paintings are inspired by the still life works of Matisse.
The plants represent the abundance, the innocence and the organic world. The architecture represent man-made, linear structures.
We see a cultivated plant, but at the same time it is overgrowing the maquette sized architecture. Nature and architecture are playing a game of power. Do the maquettes and geometrical patterns follow the laws of nature or is it the other way around? Does the plant take shape of the linear structures?
Inspiration comes from Bauhaus textiles, fabric patterns, architectural structures, plant textures and ornaments of the Ancient times.
